Fairytale Castle!

12/7/2013

Bonjour mes amis!

Don't you love a good Fairytale?  We all love to watch Disney movies and dream, don't we?  No matter our age.  Today, I have a treat for you.  I'm going to show you the Castle that inspired the Fairytale, Sleeping Beauty.  The Castle is even "staged" to reveal the story, but you'll have to follow down to the end of my Post.  In case you don't remember the story of Sleeping Beauty, click HERE to read a Summary of the Story, by the French Author, Charles Perrault, so you are caught up before we go on...

Here is Château d'Ussé!

Amazing, right?  Dr. J and I visited this Château a number of years ago, but we really wanted to take Jewelius to see it.  First, we made our way up the hill to the Château, and enjoyed a few views...

Ah, the Wisteria!

The View to the Countryside...

Most Châteaux have a Chapel, and this Château had a whole separate building!

Many Châteaux also have Caves.  In French, this is literally, like a Cave, but these are for Wine Processing and Storage.  The temperature remains constant throughout the year, so it is very good for Wine.

There were also Stables on the back side of the Château!

Just a few more views Outside and we'll be ready to go in!

And now, let's make our way into the Château!  Most of the rooms were staged with Costumes and Furniture.  (Keep making your way to the Tower where the Fairytale will be revealed...)

This little passageway led deep under the Château, and could be used as an escape route to quite a ways away!

We are always awed by the construction of the Towers in Châteaux!

This is Me and Jewelius in the stairway of the Sleeping Beauty's Tower!

And now, for the staging of the Story of Sleeping Beauty!

And to translate this for you...

The Awakening
Princess Aurora,
who slept for 100 years,
is woken up by Prince Charming!

Yeah for the Prince!  Just in time...

Don't you just love a Fairytale Ending?

Château d'Ussé!

Have a "Jewel" of a Day!
Jan
