Bonjour mes amis!
I have another Château to show you today, and it's a mouthful...
Château de Châteaudun!
This was the first Château to be built between Paris and Orléans. Enjoy!
First, we arrived in the Village of Châteaudun...
And now, we enter the gates to the Château!
First, some Outside Views...
Then, into the Chapel...
Then, into the Château! The rooms were empty, but we always marvel at the size of the Fireplaces!
And the Architecture...
A portion of the Château was used as a Prison...
Check out the tiny size of the Cells...and most of them didn't have Windows...
In the Courtyard, we could view the surrounding Countryside...
We were given a Tour (in French) of the Tower dungeon, and then made our way up...
Here is a model of the Tower. We went to the Top Floor and were able to view all those wooden beams...
Some other details from other parts of the Château...
"I Spy" a Fleur-de-Lis!
As you can see, it was quite a beautiful day!
We ended our day with a little visit to the Market Square...
And a Snack from a Patisserie!
And then, caught our last glimpse of the Château!
Perhaps tomorrow we'll take a little break, maybe head to ROME, ITALY, or something...I think you've probably "gotten your fill" of Châteaux for a little bit, right?
As I close today, let me just show you a couple close-up views of those beautiful yellow fields...since I made Dr. J stop the car and all...
Have a "Jewel" of a Day!
Jan
