Bonjour mes amis!
Okay, I know I had planned to write all about going to Montmarte in Paris for my next post, but I'm going to take a little respite from France, to tell you about our latest journey!
Ms. Emerald is still visiting us from Texas, and as she is trying to Minor in Spanish at her University, Dr. J decided last week that we should take her to Spain before she leaves us. So....in one day, we bought plane tickets, found a place to park the car near the Airport, looked up all the places we'd want to visit, booked a Hotel, and then, we went to...
Madrid, Spain!
How awesome is that?
After we stepped off the plane, we discovered that the Metro System was on strike, and also that it was the Festival of the Three Kings, ie. Christmas in Spain! So, a Taxi ride it was, and we prepared for the idea of crowds of people. We quickly saw the Christmas evidence in the way of signs and decorations and lights!
Here's the Hotel we stayed in. The room wasn't very big for the four of us, but for such a busy area of town, we had a very quiet, tucked away room, and the people in the Hotel were so nice and helpful!
I managed to take a picture before we messed the room up!
The Shower Jets were nice! |
The next few pictures are from Puerta Del Sol...and boy, was it busy!
There were characters all over, which was rather entertaining, but some were annoying and thought they needed to be in our pictures...
It took us a while to figure out how this one guy held the other one up! Fun!
Then, we moved on...
Please don't tell me you thought there would be no Architecture pictures in this Post!
Window Shopping! |
There were NUMEROUS Ham Shops! |
We were highly recommended to go to this place for Chocolate and Churros! This was obviously the place to be, since it was PACKED! We got a table though...
...and ate every bite!
I'll be back to share more of our weekend in Madrid!
But, before I go, isn't this the coolest? (You know me and my thing for Old Doors!)
What did you do this past weekend? Hope it was fun!
Until next time...have a "Jewel" of a day!
Jan
Looks like y'all had tons of fun! ....and it also seems that Spaniards have been eating their salt...
