Bonjour mes amis!
We have a couple of sweet girls (Les Filles) here this week...one being my daughter, Ms. Emerald, and her dear friend from Dallas, Becky! Their first day here, they were sleepy, so we made sure they had their first "Pain au Chocolat" and then sent them to bed!
Then, we got busy. They wanted to see Orléans!
Dr. J really wanted pizza that night, so we ate pizza out at a small place fairly close to home.
Three Cheese - Love the Goat Cheese on Pizza! |
From there, we wandered down to the Quick (McDonald's competitor in France...) for some ice cream...yes, that's Tony Parker advertising that hamburger behind Jewelius!
DON'T ASK ME WHY WE GOT ICE CREAM, IT WAS FREEZING OUT!!!
(Notice these "high class" establishments we're taking these girls to... )
Then, we walked through the Mall, since young girls always like the Mall...of course, the stores were all closed...after hours....but we got to see the decorations, and the girls scoped out where they want me to take them!
I quite like the Chandelier decorations...so French! |
...and just outside the Mall...
I've shown you the Statue of Joan of Arc before...during the day...
Recently, I had lunch with an American woman named, Beth, here, and since this is a good meeting point (everyone knows "Place de Martroi", where the Joan of Arc Statue is!) we met here. I found it comical that when Beth confirmed our Rendezvous, she referred to it as "Joanie on the Pony"! Haha!
Orléans is all dressed up for Christmas...ie. Noël!!!
Not quite Marshall Fields, but festive anyway! |
We had a nice little walk in the brisk air, but must go back when the Christmas Market is open...we wandered the streets too late! Also, there's a Ferris Wheel right by the River, and a Park decorated in Lights! Must go back...soon!
Hope you enjoyed our little neck of the woods at this time of the year! There will be more to come...
Have a "Jewel" of a day!
Jan
I see dad is wearing the columbia jacket I got him!
