This is for the Birds!

7/9/2016

Bonjour mes amis!

It was a dark and rainy day, but we didn't want to be stuck in the house all day.

                 What to do?
              What to do?

Well, if you procrastinate long enough, it becomes a meal time, right?

So, Ms. Emerald and I set out for lunch at one of our favorite restaurants in Orléans, just across from this statue of John Calvin.  Ms. Emerald wanted to get a photo with the statue first.  John Calvin was a French theologian during the Protestant Reformation, and he just so happens to have spent some time in Orléans, France!  My family and I have studied John Calvin rather extensively.  He was a true man of God!  I am amazed now when I think of all his writings, and he only lived to 55 years of age!

As we turned from the statue to go to the Restaurant, it suddenly dawned on me that it was Monday, and many places are closed on Mondays.  Yup!  It was not to be.  Our favorite was closed!  We hurried along, as the rain was starting again, to find another place to eat.

Yeah!  Volpone was open and we could even eat outside with protective walls.  Since this was our major activity for the day, we even ordered wine so we could take our time!  You never have to be worried about ordering the "house wine" in France.  It's always delicious!

Ms. Emerald and I decided to share two dishes...a Goat Cheese Salad, and a Pizza with Figs and Duck!  Both were delicious and very filling.  We were content and happy to just sit and enjoy, and watch all the people walk by with their umbrellas.

While we were eating, we got some visitors...

Daring little things...they hopped right onto our table...

Wow!  Three at once!

Thankfully, the restaurant filled up, and the birds went to see what the other tables were having for lunch...and we didn't share with them at all!

À bientot!
Jan
